Kudos to Tokyo Joe’s Studios of Self Defense Salisbury, MA! As part of its commitment to a safer and more secure community, Tokyo Joe's offers a free self-defense class to women and girls on the last Tuesday evening of every month. Offered at no charge, they ask all the students of their women's self-defense class to make a $10 donation to the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center. Suzanne Dubus, Executive Director thanks Representative Mike Costello for announcing the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center's award of a $90,000 Byrne Grant for its efforts to fight domestic violence. The money will be used to support Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center's Greater Newburyport High-Risk Case Response Team.
Kudos to Paul, Will and Kyle, students at Merrimack Alternative Vocational School in Topsfield. They've provided their expertise carpentry skills (learned from shop teacher Mark Webster), building new shelves for our Amesbury office!
A girls' group in Newburyport worked hard to create a bagful of colorful blankets for the children the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center serves. Thank you for all of your hard work!
Thank you to the musically gifted (front row, left to right) Allison Russo of Newburyport, Laura Greenwald, William Greenwald, and Justin Knowlton of Amesbury for creating a special holiday CD, Believe - a holiday music collection to benefit the Center. Development Director Elaine Cohen greets the children at our door. Charles Nickou, DDS has beautified the Newburyport office yard for two years in a row, planting flowers, weeding and mowing.
